Gran Canaria, Mountains to coast, you will discover the highlights of Gran Canaria. First, you will start with the volcanic mountains in the centre of the island, with its iconic monolith Roque Nublo dominating the Caldeira of Tejeda, which is also known as the European Grand Canyon. There you will stay in the lovely village of Tejeda with its white stepped houses on the slope of the mountain, classified as one of the most beautiful towns of Spain. Then you will slowly get down to the coast, crossing the Natural Park of Tamadaba, the largest pinewood of the island.

Welcome to Gran Canaria!

At your arrival in Gran Canaria Airport, you will be brought to your accommodation in Santa Brigida. The transfer will take about 30 minutes.

In the morning a transfer will bring you to the starting point of your first stage. Teror is a small town with a Basilica that is a place of pilgrimage for people all over the island as well as a popular local for shopping typical items. From here the route takes you out of the town deep into the countryside full of pueblos settled in fertile terraced valleys. Leaving the valleys behind the path goes gradually up through to bring you up to an altitude over 1600m in El Penon. From here is always down until Tejeda. There are two options of walks to choose for:

Option 1: 15.0km, +1065m, -603m
Option 2: 15.3km, +1041m, -581m

Today you will have a choice of two looped walks, both starting and finishing in Tejeda. Both routes will lead around and through a fertile and luminous valley in an environment of Canarian pines and terraced fields, with orchards of fruit trees, including almond trees. At the end of the day, enjoy the village of Tejeda, with its white houses on the slope of the mountain, its main street very pleasant, and lined with trees, its small terraces of restaurants, its narrow streets, classified as one of the most beautiful villages of Spain.

Option 1: 14.9km, +756m, -756m (including Roque Nublo)

Option 2: 11.4km, +609m, -610m

Today you will have a choice of 2 walks from Tejeda to Fontanales. Both routes run along the ridge of mountains through pines forest. From the summit, you will dominate the North coast of Gran Canaria.

Option 1 – 12.3km, +681m, -733m 

Option 2 – 13.3km, +669m, -719m

In the morning you will be transferred to Mirador del Sargento. From here you will have a choice of two walks to El Hornillo. One is 9.4km and the other is 10.0km. After your walk, you will be transferred from El Hornillo to Fontanales. During the day, you will walk along the Natural Park of Tamada and its pine forest.

In the morning you will be transferred to Lugarejos. From here you will walk to Agaete, in Parque Natural de Tamadaba. This park is the largest pine forest of Gran Canaria, spread on mountains between 1200m and 1400m above sea level. More than 7500ha of rugged wild landscapes, zebras of deep ravines, conducive to superb walks for lovers of unspoiled nature. There are two ways you can walk over the first part of todays route. Depending on which route you chose yesterday you can pick a different route so you can follow a different trail.

Today you will have 1 looped walk of 10km starting and finishing in Agaete. This old typical village does not lack charm with its little white houses and its mountainous background, but its peculiarity is especially that one cultivates the only cafe of Europe. Below Agaete is the authentic port of Puerto de las Nieves, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the West coast cliffs of Gran Canaria. If you walk along the seafront and its volcanic black sand beach you will find the Salinas, 3 natural sea pools.
