The Gran Canaria, Grand walking tour is an amazing trip that will bring you along on a journey for body and mind. You will walk from the rocky mountains of the Caldeira de Tejeda, also known as the European Grand Canyon, to the pine forest of the Natural Park of Tamadaba and the impressive cliffs of the West coast of the island. Don’t miss the 2 iconic monoliths that used to be revered by the Canarii people (first inhabitants of the island): Roque Bentayga and Roque Nublo. At the end, the day enjoys the lovely village of Tejeda with its white stepped houses on the slope of the mountain, classified as one of the most beautiful towns of Spain.

Today you will be transferred from Santa Brigida to Valleseco and then walk to Cruz de Tejeda. From here the route takes you out of the town deep into the countryside full of pueblos settled in fertile terraced valleys. Leaving the valleys behind the path goes gradually up through to bring you up to an altitude over 1600m in El Penon. Cruz de Tejeda is a mountain pass would be the historical and geographical crossroads of all the roads of the island. In good weather, it is even possible to see Mount Teide on the island opposite.

You have 2 options for getting from Valleseco to Cruz de Tejeda:

Option 1: 6.8km (+626m, -93m)
Option 2: 10.9km (+923m, -411m)

Today you will walk from Cruz de Tejeda to San Bartolome. This route will pass between Pico de las Nieves, the summit of the Gran Canaria culminating at 1949m, and the iconic monolith of Roque Nublo. During the first part of the walk, you will enjoy a scenic view over the Caldeira de Tejeda, also known as the European Grand Canyon.

Today you will walk from San Bartolome to Tejeda, going to the iconic Roque Nublo, before going down to the Caldeira de Tejeda. At the end of the day, enjoy the village of Tejeda, with its white houses on the slope of the mountain, its main street very pleasant, and lined with trees, its small terraces of restaurants, its narrow streets, classified as one of the most beautiful villages of Spain.

Today you will walk from Tejeda to Fontanales. You will have 2 options for the walk to Fontanales. Both routes run along the ridge of mountains through pines forest. From the summit, you will dominate the North coast of Gran Canaria.

Option 1: 13.3km (+669m, -719m)
Option 2: 12.3km (+681m, -733m)

Hotel: Cabañas Valle Verde

Add an extra night (optional): Transfer from Fontanales to Mirador del Sargento and walk from there to Fontanales. 15.1km (+565m, -699m)

Today a transfer will take you to Presa de Lugarejos, in Parque Natural de Tamadaba. From here, you will have a 16km walk to Agaete. This park is the largest pine forest of Gran Canaria, spread on mountains between 1200m and 1400m above sea level. More than 7500ha of rugged wild landscapes, zebras of deep ravines, conducive to superb walks for lovers of unspoiled nature.
