Gran Canaria, Cruz de Tejeda walking Short-break is centred around the Caldeira de Tejeda, the European Grand Canyon. You will start from its Northside in Cruz de Tejeda, the crossroad of the island. First, a loop will take you through the valley with a stop in Tejeda one the most beautiful village of Spain. Then, a linear route will take you from one Caldeira, the one of Tejeda, to another one, the one of Tijana. And finally, you will walk another loop providing you with a scenic view to this last Caldeira. During Gran Canaria, Cruz de Tejeda walking Short-break, you will enjoy the view of 2 iconic monoliths that were revered by the Canarii people (first inhabitants of the island): Roque Bentayga and Roque Nublo.

You will be collected from Gran Canaria Airport and brought to your accommodation in Cruz de Tejeda. The transfer will take about 1 hour. This mountain pass would be the historical and geographical crossroads of all the roads of the island. In good weather, it is even possible to see Mount Teide on the island opposite.

Today you will have a looped walk of 14km, starting and finishing Cruz de Tejeda. This route will lead around and through a fertile and luminous valley in an environment of Canarian pines and terraced fields, with orchards of fruit trees, including almond trees. You can make a little stop in the village of Tejeda, with its white houses on the slope of the mountain, its main street very pleasant, and lined with trees, its small terraces of restaurants, its narrow streets, classified as one of the most beautiful villages of Spain.

Your 15km walk today will take you from Cruz de Tejeda to San Bartolome, your next stop. This route will pass between Pico de las Nieves, the summit of the Gran Canaria culminating at 1949m, and the iconic monolith of Roque Nublo. During the first part of the walk, you will enjoy a scenic view over the Caldeira de Tejeda, also known as the European Grand Canyon.

Today you will have 1 looped walk of 15km starting and finishing in San Bartolome. Clinging to a rocky mountain slope, in a rugged landscape of palm trees and cactus, this big village in the hinterland has a well-established historic centre. This loop will provide you with a spectacular view over the Caldeira de Tijana, within the bottom, the Risco Blanco, massive 3.7 million years old, an impressive cliff of nearly 1000m high!
